August has been a really boring month for me trying to save pennies for a holiday (In November) and working 50 hours a week. Working at 6am every morning is really taking its toll on my social life. I can't be bothered doing ANYTHING after work and feel like an elderly woman with a curfew for 9.30pm. I'm returning back to Forth Valley College this week to do my degree in Media and Communications. I still have no idea what I want to do with my future but I enjoy learning about film, journalism and PR etc so I may as well stick at it. With college just round the corner and my wardrobe feeling a little neglected I planned a shopping trip in town for some new bits and bobs. I didn't actually spend too much, I thought I would save some for more trips as the weeks go on and the weather gets colder.
First on my list was a hand bag and purse, big enough to hold all of my college supplies but not as big as my last bag in which everything got lost. Not as expensive as Top Shop as I get bored of handbags very easily, but not as cheap as Primark. I settled for New Look and picked up these two.
Second on the list was stationery, and I am usually the biggest sucker for WHS. I went in for a browse and contemplated spending £8 on a week to week diary viewer and a fortune on pens but I saw sense and headed to pound land instead. I got perfectly adequate pens and a diary there and that meant I had more money to squander on clothes. I still have umpteen notepads and a cute pencil case from last year that will do me fine again too.
Next on the list were bits and bobs for my wardrobe/outfit for my first day back and I wasn't disappointed in H&M for once. I usually find in there that you have to really rake to find a decent buy but I was loving most things on the mannequins. I spent a good length of time trying things on and finding all the right sizes. I was fully clothed in one of there outfits when for the second time that day, the alarm went off telling all customers to 'EVACUATE! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!' I told a gentleman who worked there that I would just be a minute while I was getting dressed and when I left the changing room I was the last person left in the store, the shutters where shut and I was locked in. Eventually a security guard noticed after about 10 minutes of me standing in the shop window looking like a right twat and I was escorted out with apologies. All I really wanted was my clothes back that where all sitting in perfect order and size. By the time I went back they had all been put back to there original place and I had to remember everything I had picked and where It was in the shop. It wasn't my day at all.
I did manage to get some cute bits and peices however including a checkered shirt, skinny jeggings, a cozy jumper, a cute printed dress, some tights, a white shirt and some jewellery.
Next on the agenda was perfume. I haven't ran out of perfume but I just think I like to change it up once in a while. I was recommended Zara perfume recently so I decided to go and have a smell. I wasn't disappointed and couldn't believe the price. I liked the majority of them but two stood out the most. I couldn't decided between the two and at £10 each I thought why not just buy them both. Technically the love one was £15, but thats because it comes with this cute hand bag size roll on version. I think I will be buying my perfume from there forever more...
The packaging and bottles were really pretty as well so I was happy with my purchases.
Last on the agenda was hair products.. A new dry shampoo because I'm bored of my old one, shampoo and heat protector because I feel like I'm neglecting my hair.
I always use Aussie products, one because there is usually a good deal on where you get one for free and two because they smell really nice. I feel like I need to change it up a bit and try some new brands so I'll do my research and next time be a bit more adventurous. I'm the same with make up. If its not broken don't fix it, but then how do you know whats really good for your hair/skin? It's the fear of wasting my money thats stopping me. I picked up these two dry shampoo's and I haven't sampled any of these products yet. Except my usual Mega shampoo which I know smells and works amazingly. I picked up two other little things that weren't actually on my list (oops). I found myself looking at the nail varnish section and realised I don't actually have any nice top coats for when I paint my nails. They usually get chipped very easily.
I picked up these as I thought they would encourage me to be more girly and paint my nails more often for college. I always put off painting my nails as I can't wear varnish to work anyway as I handle food. I put it on this evening and I really like it. So all in all a successful shopping trip but I have the feeling It won't be the last of my spending....
